Rev. Dr. Cynthia Turner Wood

Reverend Dr. Cynthia Turner Wood has proudly served as the second Pastor of Dayspring Community Church in Lanham, Maryland, since 2005.
Before entering full-time ministry, Dr. Turner Wood served in government as the Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Speechwriter for the Assistant Secretary for Health and U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. David Satcher. She also spent time on staff at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, DC, where she promoted the art of contemplative living.
She holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, with a focus on prophetic preaching, a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Dr. Turner Wood is the founder of the Festival for Women PreacHERS in the DMV and co-founder of the Baptist Catechism Academy. She serves on several boards, including WomanPreach!, Inc., and the Lott Carey Foreign Missions Convention, and is a member of the Advisory Council for Lancaster Bible College.
She recently served as a Mentor for the Thriving in Ministry Program for Female Pastors and as a missionary with Lott Carey’s Pastoral Excellence Program (Team 8), with pilgrimages to South America, West Africa, Italy, Nova Scotia, and the Caribbean.
